The Gallery - Together

There is so much about this photo that I like (apart from it being a bit blurry!). Together these two are becoming a real force to be reckoned with. They can play together so nicely for all of 20 seconds, then they start pushing and shoving, taking one another's toys and generally annoying the hell out of each other. But then these flashes of togetherness happen. What do they look like?! I can tell you that I'm going to love getting this photo out to show their girlfriend/ boyfriend in 20 years time. Noah LOVES Isla's princess shoes and he is partial to wearing her sunnies too, so he's a kind of cross between a wrestler and a drag queen. And Isla looks like some kind of showgirl. Very Funny Indeed!

The Gallery - Boys

This is my boy. Looking cool in his shades. Holding his best friend 'Rabbit'. In about 15 years time he'll still be looking cool in his shades I'm sure but 'Rabbit' will be long gone. He'll be all grown up and he'll be all like 'Mum, stop taking photos of me' - I don't think I'll ever tire of taking photos of him (and Isla). Everyday there is something I need to capture, something that I don't want to forget. And just like with my 'Girls' post last week, I don't want him to grow up too quickly. I love my little boy. 

The Gallery - Girls

This is my girl. I love her more than any other girl in the whole world. She makes me laugh, she makes me exasperated, she makes me want to kiss and cuddle her all day, she gives me a different perspective on the world, she invigorates me but at the same time wears me out. There are days when I feel she is so grown up for 3 and half and worldly wise then other days when I'm reminded that she's still a baby really. We talk about school a lot lately, I tell her that she will learn to read and write and count to way beyond 100 and her response is "will I learn to write 'S's'?" - the only letter in her name that she's not quite mastered, these are the kinds of things that trouble her. I want to keep her world so small and safe but I know that it's not meant to be that way. I've been reading The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey in the last week and there is a passage where the male character in book mourns the loss of his little girl as she has now grown up and is about to have a family of her own. I can feel that in me sometimes when I see my children getting so big. They can't stay little for long but lets enjoy them to the max while they are.

The Gallery - Hands

The theme of The Gallery this week is 'Hands' and I could only really go with this photo as I LOVE it so much. It's obvious, i know, I haven't tried to think outside the box, it is just two hands, but to me they aren't any old hands they are the hands of two people that I love very much. My Dad and my Son. Grandfather and Grandson. With Dad going through his second lot of chemotherapy in 3 years at the moment and Noah nearly one years old, these two hands represent everything that is most important to me - family. There is one aged hand, that has all the experience that comes with being 60 years old and there is the youthful hand that has all the expectation of what life has to offer and hopefully soaking up some of the life experience that his Grandfather has notched up......

The Gallery - At Peace

National Trust Nymans Gardens - my new favourite place!

The subject from Tara at Sticky Fingers this week is 'At Peace' and this is my interpretation of that. My idea of peace would be in the outdoors where you can't hear the roar of cars and impatient car horns. Well away from my house where we have a regular daily struggle to park our car anywhere near our front door with two kids to get out of it, where every day it feels like there are lorries constantly pulling up to the printers over the road. Where there is no litter on the ground and no dog mess. This would be a place where my brain could shut down as it hasn't done for a good few months. It's always whirring and wondering 'what if this?' and 'what if that?'. I would love to turn up to a place like this on my own and lay down on the grass in the sunshine and just 'be'.

The Gallery - Colour

I'm loving Instagram at the moment with all the different filters. Obviously I have used a filter on this photo but the reason I took it was that as I was sitting there, it struck me how colourful Noah looked and also all his surroundings too! I love dressing him in bright colours. This was at Baby Sensory, a class that we only started about 8 weeks ago and sadly we'll only have another 2 weeks left as I'm back to work soon. Noah absolutely loves it and so do I. It's special time that we share together and every week has a theme. My favourite so far has to be the Valentine week. We danced together with a disco ball spinning in the background. It's actually making my cry thinking of this. I know I could do this on my own in my own living room but I love that Baby Sensory gives me ideas of things to do with Noah and it has such lovely songs. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and at the end of it all the babies are usually ready for a big lunchtime nap because they've had such fun! So that's my entry in The Gallery this week. The Gallery - My Awesome Photo

I know this isn't a photo of a bungee jump or some amazing waterfall/ beach scene or me wing walking (never going to happen!) but this is MY AWESOME PHOTO. It captures my OH and I in a way that we'll never probably ever be seen again. I absolutely love this photo, when I look at it is makes me feel all mushy (it's also slightly cheesy I know!). I haven't done anything with any of my wedding photo's and we got married over 3 years ago, they remain on a disc and on my laptop waiting for me to put them in a book but if anything happened to them, I would really be upset about not seeing this one ever again. Photo's are weird like that aren't they? I love reliving memories just by looking at a stack of photo's and I really do love reliving the memory of my wedding day!

The Gallery - Trees

For this weeks Gallery theme of 'Trees', I've picked two photo's from mine and Mr D's wedding. Obviously I love all our wedding photo's but these two have really majestic trees in the background that really do take centre stage over me and the other half:

The shape of the first tree is awesome and the colour of the second tree was an amazing deep red/ maroon. Such beautiful backdrops to a wonderful day!

The Gallery - Children

When I saw that the topic this week for The Gallery was 'Children', the obvious choice was to pick a photo of my gorgeous daughter, but then I thought no, how's about a pic of me, in my favourite Chelsea shirt. I love this photo - the poor colour quality, the groovy 1970's decor and how lovely my nan looks! I also know that my mum would have cut that fringe and later on that day we'd probably have watched 'Metal Mickey' or 'Doctor Who' on the black and white TV.

My sister and I used to spend many a Saturday afternoon at our grandparents house while my mum worked and my Dad was in The Shed end at Stamford Bridge cheering on the blues. I loved wearing this shirt and if I could still have one item of my childhood clothing it would be this.

In the winter we'd spend hours playing board games or cards with my nan and in the summer we'd be having adventures amongst the beanstalks at the end of the garden, more often than not tottering around in my nan's high heeled shoes - we've got the Cine film somewhere of this, must get it out one day!

White

As a relatively new blogger I've only just come across Tara Cain's Sticky Fingers blog and 'The Gallery'. The idea is that Tara will give a prompt (can be a word, phrase, object etc) and then people respond by posting a photo that captures that prompt for them. This is my first time having a go at The Gallery, but when I saw the word was 'White' the only thing that came into my mind was our cat, Bobcat. Here he is:

He is our big, beautiful, white fluffball, I like to think of him as the Liberace of cats! We've had him for nearly 3 years since a good friend of mine moved flats and no longer had a garden. He has settled in and really has a big place in our affections - see previous blog post 'Nocturnal Awakenings' for proof of just how much he gets away with. He has dealt with having a new baby (now toddler) in the house very well, although he spends a bit more time under the bath than he used to! He's found this week a little bit trying with the snow, only ventured out once, for 30 seconds and the scuttled back pronto. This caused havoc with his daily ablutions - he's very modest and doesn't like an audience when he's in the litter tray....
Isla adores him but the feeling isn't reciprocated - he's not so keen on her shrieking "Bobbeeee, Bobbeeee". My favourite picture of them together is this one:

And speak of the devil, he's just hopped up on the sofa to keep me company now. We love you Bobcat!
